Overview: Former Tiger Richard Yeargin comes back to Death Valley as an Eagle two years after a car wreck injured his spine and caused him to retire from playing football. The accomplished Tiger (and now Eagle) is working on his second master’s degree while playing as a co-starter rotational pass rusher and team leader for Addazio’s Eagles.

Boston College is usually known as the most physical game of the regular season for Clemson in large part due to their stout defense, but 2019 has not been kind to the Eagles’ defense. The lowlight was a blowout loss to Les Miles’ Kansas where they surrendered 48 points at home – they allow 6.12 yards per play and 28.1 points per game.

Boston College’s offense was solid so far, averaging 34.6 points per game and 6.36 yards per play on the back of the rushing game (355 rushing attempts, 189 passing attempts) featuring AJ Dillon. While they lost starting quarterback Anthony Brown for the season, they defeated NC State 45-24 with backup quarterback Dennis Grosel at the helm.

Talent: Boston College lost ten of their eleven All-ACC players from 2018 to graduation or the draft, with first team running back and TDN’s 127thranked player AJ Dillon returning for his junior season. He is a traditional power back that has caught 15 passes in his tenure at Boston College, but has 968 rushing yards and ten total scores through seven games so far.

Oddshark: Clemson is projected to defeat Boston College by 34.5 points, and the spread is nearly even with betters taking Boston College at a 53% clip. The over/under is 59 with about two thirds taking the over. Clemson is 7-0 (5-2 ATS) and Boston College is 4-3 (5-2 ATS). The projected score is Clemson 53.8 Boston College 16.2.

William’s Take: The years that teams like Boston College make noise are when they have veteran-laden teams with a bit of luck. That sounds way more like 2018 Boston College than 2019 Boston College. With Boston College’s league-worst recruiting classes going up against Clemson’s nationally elite talent and coaching, it lookslike a simple game for the Tigers.Clemson 52 Boston College 13
