Overview: Last year the offense was respectable while the defense was decimated through injuries. This year, the defense is playing relatively well while the offense is injured and lacking in identity. Will Muschamp’s future has openly been discussed by high ranking Gamecock officials as they have dropped five of their last six games after their shocking upset of Georgia. Like last year, there is little tension or anticipation leading up to the game. Clemson’s secondary made a couple of unfortunate mistakes which resulted in an excellent offensive showing by Bentley and company, but the defense is unlikely to make the same mistakes again. Former Tiger Tavien Feaster is the leading rusher at 625 yards (5.58 ypc).
Talent: The Gamecocks have two prospects whom should be drafted in April. Bryan Edwards is a physical pass catcher that has shined throughout the Gamecocks’ quarterback woes. On the other side of the ball, DT Javon Kinlaw could be a first round pick and is ranked 16th on The Draft Network’s 2020 Big Board. Kinlaw also has an inspirational life story that spans homelessness, going to JUCO, and fulfilling his potential at South Carolina.
Oddshark: Clemson is favored by 27 points, and 59 percent of bets are in favor of the Tigers. The over/under is 50.5 points, and 71% of bets are on the over. Oddshark’s projected score is Clemson 52.6 South Carolina 13.4.
Prediction: Even though South Carolina played well in last year’s outing, the internal dysfunction will prevent the Gamecocks from putting up a serious fight. Clemson 52 South Carolina 10
