CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson came in ranked No. 4 in the first College Football Playoff Committee Rankings of the 2022 season, which were released Tuesday night.

Tennessee was ranked No. 1 for the first time in the CFP era, followed by Ohio State at No.2 and defending national champion Georgia at No. 3. Michigan is No. 5 to round out the top 5.

Alabama is No. 6, followed by TCU, Oregon, USC and LSU to close out the top 10.

Besides the Tigers, the ACC was represented by North Carolina at No. 17, with Syracuse coming in at No. 20, Wake Forest at 21 and NC State at 22. Clemson has already defeated Syracuse, Wake and NC State this season and could face UNC in the ACC Championship Game next month.

Clemson (8-0) finished last season ranked No. 19 in the final CFP Playoff Poll. Tuesday’s ranking marked the fourth consecutive poll the Tigers were ranked by the CFP Committee, dating back to last season.

The Tigers have been ranked in 46 CFP rankings overall, including 42 consecutive polls from October 28, 2014-December 20, 2020. Clemson’s streak ended with the first poll on 2021, as the program was not ranked during the first three weeks of the CFP poll.

The CFP Rankings began on October 28, 2014.

Clemson travels to South Bend, Ind., Saturday to play Notre Dame.
