CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson Tigers finished No. 7 in the final College Football Playoff ranking, which was released Sunday afternoon.
It was also announced the Tigers (11-2) will play No. 6 Tennessee in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30. Clemson earned a berth in the Orange Bowl thanks to its 39-10 win over then No. 23 North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game.
Clemson and Tennessee (10-2) have not met since the Tigers beat the Volunteers in the 2004 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
As for the final CFP rankings, Georgia finished No. 1, followed by Michigan at No. 2, TCU at No. 3 and Ohio State at No. 4. Alabama finished No. 5 in the final ranking and was the first team not to make the CFP.
