CLEMSON, S.C. — Though Clemson was not hitting on all cylinders in its 31-3 victory over Boston College Saturday night, the Tigers did enough to impress the pollsters.
Clemson (6-0, 4-0 ACC) moved up one spot from No. 4 to No. 5, jumping Michigan who was previously No. 4 in the rankings. The Tigers opened the season ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, but slipped to No. 5 in Week 2, though they opened the season with a 41-10 victory over Georgia Tech on the road.
After a slow start on Saturday night, Clemson eventually got rolling as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei tallied 289 total yards and threw three touchdown passes. The defense suffocated the Eagles’ offense, limiting them to 34 rushing yards and just 254 yards overall.
Georgia moved back into the top spot, while previously No. 1 Alabama fell to No. 3 in the polls after it hung on to beat Texas A&M. Ohio State moved up to No. 2, while Clemson is No. 5 and Michigan rounds out the top 5.
Besides Clemson, the ACC is also represented by Wake Forest at No. 14, NC State at No. 15 and Syracuse at No. 18.
